On Monday morning, drivers on Highway 401 experienced significant disruptions due to a vehicle fire that led to the closure of the roadway just east of the Waterloo Region. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) reported a collision in the eastbound lanes at Highway 6 North shortly after 9 a.m., resulting in the closure of all traffic lanes.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) indicated that a single vehicle was engulfed in flames, producing substantial smoke and causing considerable delays in that area. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.
By 10 a.m., the MTO provided an update stating that the collision-related closure had been resolved, and the eastbound lanes were reopened to traffic.
