On Tuesday night, firefighters extricated two individuals from the wreckage of a vehicle following a collision. The incident occurred at 8:39 p.m. when Ottawa police alerted fire crews to respond to the 6600 block of Bank Street. Upon arrival, crews found both drivers pinned inside their cars, one on the east shoulder and the other in the west ditch.
Firefighters set up hose lines for safety and stabilized the vehicles before beginning the extrication. A third vehicle, which had minor damage, was also involved after passing through the debris from the collision.
Using specialized tools, firefighters removed the doors of both vehicles to free the drivers. The first driver was extricated by 9:04 p.m., and the second by 9:11 p.m. Crews also spread absorbent materials to contain leaking fluids and disconnected the vehicles’ batteries before leaving the scene in the hands of Ottawa police.
