A pickup truck lost control on the QEW Thursday morning, rolling into a ditch and causing minor injuries to the driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The incident, which occurred just after 9 a.m. near Bartlett Avenue in the Toronto-bound lanes, was one of several collisions that emergency crews responded to due to wintry weather in Niagara. The driver, a man in a Dodge Ram, struck a highway sign before rolling off the road. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. The crash caused temporary traffic backups but was cleared quickly.
Fire departments from Lincoln and Grimsby, along with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to the scene. Despite the challenging driving conditions, OPP reported only minor collisions, and Niagara Regional Police noted 10 accidents in the area, most of which resulted in property damage. Authorities reminded drivers to slow down and adjust their driving to the hazardous road conditions.
