Three people died in a head-on crash east of Cornwall on Thursday night. The collision occurred around 9 p.m. on County Road 2, near McGibbon Road, when an eastbound vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, causing two drivers to swerve.
The vehicles then collided head-on, and one caught fire. The driver of the eastbound car, along with the driver and a passenger from the westbound vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger from the westbound vehicle, a 16-year-old boy from Cornwall, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
The victims were a 16-year-old girl from Champlain Township, a 44-year-old man from Ottawa, and a 65-year-old woman from Cornwall. County Road 2 was closed overnight for the investigation but has since reopened. The OPP is still investigating and asks anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
