A 31-year-old man was killed after a stolen Audi crashed into his vehicle in St. Catharines on Wednesday night, according to Niagara Regional Police.
The incident began around 9:40 p.m. when a black Audi S5 was stolen from a commercial plaza parking lot. The driver had left the car running with a passenger inside while entering a nearby store. A suspect approached, threatened the passenger, and then drove off at high speed once the passenger exited.
About 40 minutes later, the stolen Audi collided with a Chevrolet Malibu at Welland Avenue and Ontario Street. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The suspect fled on foot, reportedly injured and bleeding, but has not been found. Anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
