A 78-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while trying to free his vehicle from a snowbank in Markham on Monday. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. at Reesor Road and Elgin Mills Road East.
Despite life-saving efforts, the man, from Toronto, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
The collision occurred amid significant snowfall from three consecutive storms that impacted Ontario and the GTA over the long weekend.
