Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a rideshare driver after a collision on Highway 417 early Wednesday morning. The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. near Nicholas Street, involving three vehicles and causing significant traffic delays.
The rideshare driver, suspected of being impaired, was tested at the scene and later registered nearly three times the legal alcohol limit at the detachment. His passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The driver faces charges of impaired and dangerous driving, along with a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. OPP has noted a slight rise in impaired driving incidents in eastern Ontario this year.
