Police are searching for a motorist and their vehicle after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in St. Catharines on Sunday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of Grantham Avenue and Carlton Street around 8 a.m.
Initial investigations reveal that the pedestrian was crossing Grantham Avenue at Carlton Street when struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to an out-of-region hospital for treatment.
The driver fled the scene without identifying themselves, last seen heading west on Carlton Street and turning south onto Stoyanoff Drive. Police describe the vehicle as a newer model Buick SUV, possibly dark purple or brown in color. The suspect is a white male, around 65 years old, wearing glasses and a baseball cap.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation, with support from the Forensic Services Unit. Authorities are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam or video footage to come forward by contacting the lead detective or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
