A serious single-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday afternoon in Kitchener, resulting in significant damage to a residential property. Waterloo Regional Police responded to the scene near the intersection of Strasburg Road and Ottawa Street South at 12:37 p.m.

Around 1:25 p.m., the vehicle was found partially beneath a shed on the property. Authorities confirmed that one person sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital outside the region.

The crash also caused damage to nearby hydro poles, which may lead to power outages in the area. As a precaution, the northbound lanes of Ottawa Street are closed between Strasburg Road and Laurentian Power Centre Lane while hydro crews work to repair the damage.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision, and road closures remain in place as repairs continue.
