Northumberland OPP are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred just before 7 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 401 near Newtonville Road in Port Hope. One driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a trauma centre in the Toronto area.
As a result, the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours while OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists examined the scene.
