A driver faces impaired driving charges after crashing into a fire hydrant in Midland on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. when an officer on patrol on King Street witnessed the crash. The officer then investigated the driver, a 57-year-old Penetanguishene man, for impairment and arrested him.

The driver was charged with impaired operation and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg per 100 mL. His license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is set to appear in court later this month.
