A 41-year-old man from Ottawa was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 7, west of the city, early Wednesday morning. Emergency responders arrived at the scene near White Road, east of Innisville, shortly after 5 a.m.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, a westbound SUV and an eastbound tractor-trailer collided in the eastbound lane. The SUV driver was declared dead at the scene, while the truck driver sustained no serious injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, with officers from the Lanark County OPP Detachment and a collision reconstructionist involved. The incident took place between Carleton Place and Perth, and Highway 7 was closed for several hours before reopening at 12:40 p.m. Police are asking witnesses to come forward by calling 1-888-310-1122.
