A fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 7 south of Carleton Place led to the closure of the highway Wednesday morning. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that a westbound SUV crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer just after 5 a.m.
The 54-year-old Ottawa man driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver was not seriously injured. The highway was closed until around 12:45 p.m. The crash occurred about 11 kilometers southwest of Carleton Place and 60 kilometers from Ottawa.
