On Saturday night, five OPP vehicles were hit by motorists driving around road closure signs in southwestern Ontario during white-out conditions. Sgt. Sanchuk emphasized the importance of obeying road closures for safety, noting the dangerous driving conditions in Huron County, Perth, South Bruce, and Middlesex County.
While no injuries were reported, he warned that ignoring road closures puts both drivers and first responders at risk. Sanchuk also pointed out that driving around road closure signs could lead to a lack of insurance coverage for any damages. Many of the closed roads were re-opened by Sunday morning.
