Ontario Provincial Police are advising drivers to avoid traveling in Simcoe, Huron, and Perth County due to blowing snow and whiteout conditions. Officers have responded to multiple crashes and vehicles in ditches.
In Barrie, a pileup involving 10-15 vehicles occurred on Lockhart Road around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, with no serious injuries reported. Lockhart Road was closed between Ball Gate and Yonge Street for the response.
Earlier, at 7 a.m., a two-vehicle collision on County Road 92 in Elmvale resulted in minor injuries, with the area cleared by 10 a.m., though the road remains closed.
Several collisions were also reported in Tiny Township, where multiple roads were closed. One driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. OPP are strongly urging drivers to stay off the roads until conditions improve. For up-to-date road status, visit Ontario 511 or Municipal 511.
