This morning, a collision involving a school bus and a transport vehicle on Highway 69 resulted in eight individuals being transported to the hospital. According to Nipissing West OPP, the incident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 69, near Sudbury.
At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying the driver and 12 students. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported eight individuals to a local hospital. Five students were assessed as a precautionary measure, while two students sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The bus driver, however, suffered serious life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the other students or the transport driver.
The police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and Highway 69 will remain closed in both directions as OPP Collision Reconstructionists and members of the Traffic Collision Investigation Team collaborate with Nipissing West OPP officers to ascertain the cause of the accident.
