The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating three separate crashes that occurred on Highway 427 near Finch Avenue West in Etobicoke. OPP first responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes before 1 p.m. ET on January 28.

A second crash, involving four vehicles, took place on the northbound side of the highway in the same area. OPP shared footage of the scene on X, showing significant damage to several vehicles, including a grey Mercedes and a blue sedan.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reported that while responding to the northbound crash, a second collision occurred in the southbound lanes involving two vehicles. He reminded drivers to stay focused on the road. Schmidt also confirmed that two people from the first crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

To allow cleanup of debris, the northbound lanes of Highway 427 were temporarily closed at Finch Avenue West. Schmidt noted that distracted driving is suspected to have played a role in all three collisions. Anyone with information, including cellphone or dashcam footage, is urged to contact the OPP.
