Charges are expected following a multi-vehicle crash near Kingston, Ont., on Monday evening, according to Ontario Provincial Police. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Road 38 and Bellrock Road in Verona, approximately 35 kilometers north of Kingston.

Police report that a driver traveling east on Bellrock Road failed to yield at the intersection, colliding with a southbound vehicle. This impact caused the southbound vehicle to veer into the opposite lanes, resulting in two more vehicles crashing. Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to rescue two people from the wreckage.

One driver was seriously injured but is expected to survive. The OPP continues to investigate, and the road remained closed for roughly two hours.
