A driver is in serious condition following a collision on Highway 407 east of Airport Road in Brampton on Wednesday evening, according to OPP. The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the driver of a vehicle heading eastbound lost control and spun out in the live lane.
The driver then exited the vehicle and was struck by another eastbound vehicle while attempting to reach the center median. The driver was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Two eastbound lanes of the highway have been closed for investigation, and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
With a significant snowstorm affecting the region, police have cautioned drivers not to leave their vehicles after an accident and to avoid non-essential travel. Snowfall warnings and special weather statements are in effect across most of the province.
