A 15-year-old girl was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Bridley Drive and Brimwood Boulevard, near McCowan Road and Finch Avenue, close to two schools.
Police said a 44-year-old woman driving a black Honda SUV was making a left turn onto Bridley Drive when the collision took place. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities noted that the SUV jumped the curb and crashed into a tree, with a pink backpack visible on the road.
Police have not yet revealed details about the cause of the collision but are asking for witnesses or anyone with video footage to come forward.
Local resident concerns about speeding in the area were mentioned, although it’s unclear if speed contributed to the accident. Scarborough North Councillor Jamaal Myers expressed condolences, calling the incident a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly in residential areas. He plans to work with police and city officials to explore measures to prevent similar tragedies. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed.
