A 40-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving after a snowmobile crash near Wanapitei Lake on Sunday night. The crash, which occurred on West Bay Road around 7:50 p.m., also involved a 13-year-old passenger who sustained minor injuries.
Emergency responders, including police, fire services, and an Ornge helicopter, were dispatched to the scene. The driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Health Sciences North, while the youth was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
During the investigation, officers noticed signs of impairment in the driver, leading to the charge. The man was released on a promise to appear in court. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information or video footage is encouraged to contact the police.
