The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing a four-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in Brampton, involving a police cruiser and leaving one person with serious injuries.

The collision took place around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue. According to police, two Peel Regional Police officers were in separate cruisers, responding to a service call in the area, when one of the cruisers collided with a civilian vehicle.

In addition to the police vehicle, two other civilian vehicles were involved in the crash, the SIU confirmed. The 43-year-old driver of the civilian car was seriously injured and taken to the hospital but has since been released. The SIU reported no other serious injuries. Initially, Peel police indicated that two individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
