A spring snowstorm caused significant traffic disruptions in Ottawa on Monday morning, with snow melting off roads and sidewalks by the afternoon.

Between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., several collisions occurred on city streets, Highway 174, and Highway 417. One crash on Highway 417 near Richmond Road and Bayshore Drive temporarily closed all westbound lanes for 30 minutes. Over five vehicles were involved, and two people were hospitalized in stable condition.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to 53 collisions on Ottawa highways between 5 a.m. and 12 p.m., though no serious injuries were reported. Ottawa Fire Services responded to 25 collisions, including a two-vehicle crash at Old Richmond Road and Stonehaven Drive, where both drivers were extricated from their vehicles.

School buses are operating, but delays of 10 to 30 minutes were reported due to the snow.
