A Toronto woman, Patrycja Siarek, has pleaded guilty to several charges, including criminal negligence, following a dog attack that severely injured a child. The attack occurred when an off-leash dog bit and dragged a child in a Toronto park, causing life-altering injuries. Siarek also faced charges under the Dog Owners’ Liability Act and Toronto’s municipal code.
The dog was taken by Toronto Animal Services. Court documents revealed that Siarek and her partner had a history of complaints regarding their dogs’ behavior at a Toronto condominium, where their two American pocket bullies were deemed “dangerous” by the city.
Despite orders to muzzle the dogs in public, the couple ignored the regulations, and an Ontario court labeled them “irresponsible” dog owners.
