Police in Barrie are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening that left both drivers hospitalized, one with serious injuries. The incident occurred just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Marsellus Drive and Sundew Drive near Mapleview Drive West.

One driver had to be extricated by emergency crews and was initially taken to a local hospital with serious injuries before being airlifted to a trauma center in Toronto. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged, with airbags deployed. The area was closed for several hours, reopening around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.
