The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal crash involving a compact SUV and a tractor-trailer in Norwich Township, near Woodstock, on February 19. The collision occurred before 7:30 a.m. at Base Line and Norwich Road.
The SUV, which ended up in a ditch, sustained significant damage. The 22-year-old male driver from Simcoe was taken to the hospital but later pronounced dead. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured.
OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk expressed condolences, emphasizing the emotional impact on the victim’s loved ones. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area as the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
