The Ontario Provincial Police are advising drivers to exercise caution following a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 26 in Thornbury, which occurred amid snowy conditions. The accident transpired on the highway between Foodland and Goldsmiths shortly before 9 a.m. ET on January 27.
The OPP estimate that between five and ten vehicles were involved in the incident, but no report of injuries thus far. Constable Wesley Staddon urged individuals who left the scene to come forward and report their involvement. The highway was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked to remove the vehicles.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing. Staddon noted that road conditions are “rapidly changing,” with high winds leading to sudden whiteouts and areas of drifting snow. The OPP encourages anyone with information, including cellphone or dashcam footage, to reach out.
