Following a collision between two commercial motor vehicles, Highway 17 has been closed for over 10 hours, affecting the stretch between Highway 622 and the Township of Ignace. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with fire and emergency medical services, responded to the scene west of Ignace shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to a release from the Dryden OPP.

Traffic is being redirected via Highway 622 to Highway 11, and motorists are strongly urged to avoid the area and find alternate routes. The highway will remain closed until further notice, with updates provided as they become available.

The Dryden OPP appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation. A photo shared on the Skilled Truckers Canada Facebook page shows the crash involving two transport trucks, with a police cruiser at the scene.
