The tragic incident occurred Monday on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) in Oakville, Ontario, where a single-vehicle rollover resulted in the death of a nine-year-old boy. The crash, which happened shortly after midnight, involved a pickup truck that left the road and rolled over before coming to rest upright.

The driver, a 38-year-old from Hamilton, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The young passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead in the hospital. Another adult passenger, a 28-year-old, was unharmed and stayed at the scene.

The police are investigating the lack of seatbelt use as a potential factor in the crash, and the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation. The westbound lanes of the QEW were closed for several hours as a result.
