A two-vehicle collision occurred in Vaughan on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of a woman in her 80s. According to York Regional Police, the unnamed victim was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash and was transported to Mackenzie Health hospital in Richmond Hill, where she was later pronounced dead.
Another individual sustained what police described as minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The incident occurred at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West around 1:17 p.m. on Sunday. Authorities have closed the intersection during the investigation, though it has since been re-opened. The major collision unit is now handling the case.
